The All Seniors Care Scholarship (National)

Angel Emergency Alert Non-Profit Organization provides support for children, elderly and vulnerable individuals in low-income situations, who cannot afford a personal emergency device and corresponding monthly monitoring service, by covering all or partial expenses on their behalf.

ASK Friendship Society

Community Outreach Programs in Addictions (COPA) (Local: Toronto, ON)

Cornerstone Care Society provides a full range of home care and support services to the seniors, disabled adults, and families of Delta, Surrey, White Rock and Langley. It was founded to provide services that go beyond those available from traditional home support agencies.

Dartmouth Seniors’ Service Centre (Local: Dartmouth, NS)

Since 1976 the Dartmouth Seniors’ Service Centre has been providing activities and services which may not otherwise readily available in the community. The Centre offers various social, physical, and educational programs.

Dufferin County Community Support Services

Assists seniors and the physically disabled to remain in their own homes by planning and coordinating support services such as Meals on Wheels, home help and maintenance, adult day program, respite, transportation, and friendly visiting.

Edmonton Meals On Wheels (Local: Edmonton, AB)

Since 1969, Edmonton Meals on Wheels has been providing home delivered, hot meal service for seniors and housebound individuals who cannot prepare or cook their own meals. They also provide frozen meals, grocery delivery, personal shopping and nutrition workshops.

ElderDog Canada Inc. (National: Toronto, ON)

ElderDog is a national organization with a mission to provide care and companionship for older dogs whose lives have been disrupted due to illness or death of a human companion; assist and support older adults in the care and well-being of their canine companions; educate health and animal care professionals and the general public about the human-animal bond and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors; and honour life and loss of canine companions through commemoration.

Encore Seniors’ Education Centre (Local: Cornwall, ON)

A nonprofit, charitable organization that provides courses for seniors in any topic for which a teacher and students are available. Their courses are available to seniors and adults over 50 in Cornwall, Ontario and the surrounding counties.

Excel Society

Serves people, with or without disabilities, who require assistance with daily living routines, accessing community resources, and/or securing and maintaining employment.

Family Caregivers’ Network Society (Regional: Victoria, BC)

Provides support, education and information to individuals who are caregivers of adult family members or friends, who live at home or in a facility, and are frail, elderly, disabled or ill. Services include support groups, resource library, workshops, and newsletter.

Fools for Health (Local: Windsor, ON)

This organization works with seniors’ homes to increase the quality of life for the residents. Fools for Health Familial-Clowns engage in activities that help rejuvenate creative, expressive, and communication skills among residents. Familial-Clowns work closely with all residents, but especially with those with dementia, to connect to the past and to be present in the here and now.

Frontenac-Kingston Council on Aging (COA) (Regional: Kingston, ON)

A nonprofit organization running a variety of programs in the Hamilton area, including a day program for seniors and adults with physical or cognitive impairments, as well as athletic and social programs for children. They also offer a parent support group and a play centre for pre-school children.

IOOF Seniors Homes Inc. (Local: Barrie, ON)

Committed to serving seniors through development of new and innovative concepts in support programs, health care services and housing for over 100 years; operating several facilities located in Barrie, Ontario. Keralites Senior Citizens Association of Canada (Regional: Ontario)

The Keralites Senior Citizens Association is a nonprofit organization serving the Senior Citizens of Keralites (people of the background from the Kerala Province of India) in Canada. The Miriam Foundation is a not-for profit foundation that supports rehabilitative, vocational and residential services for children, adults and seniors with intellectual disabilities in Montreal, to promote their integration into society. Mon Sheong Foundation

The Mon Sheong Foundation is a Canadian registered charitable organization, dedicated to the promotion of Chinese culture, heritage, language and philosophy through caring for the elderly, encouraging the young and providing programs and services in response to the needs of our communities. Montfort Renaissance is a francophone community health organization that offers integrated mental health and addiction services as well as services for seniors and housing services to vulnerable individuals in Eastern Ontario. Some of those services are provided in both official languages.

Neighbourhood Link Support Services

An innovative community-based agency that actively promotes people’s independence and dignity. Responding to the needs of youth, adults, newcomers, and seniors, they provide a continuum of services including employment, housing, and health services. For more than 30 years they have successfully combined research and advocacy initiatives with responsive client-centered services.

Nepean Seniors’ Home Support

The Ontario Gerontology Association promotes quality of life for older people throughout the province. It advocates on behalf of all older people with a focus on positive aging and the many contributions that seniors can and do make to society.

Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association (Local: Picton, ON)

The mission of this organization is to assist older adults to live in a home environment in reasonable independence. They offer assessment and referral to a wide range of local programs designed to support seniors living independently.

PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc. (Regional: Charlottetown, PE)

The PEI Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc. (PEISCF) is a provincial not for profit organization whose membership includes close to forty member clubs across the Island and individuals. The Federation acts as a voice for seniors and advocates for a better quality of life on their behalf.

The Purple Elephant Campaign (National: Toronto, ON)

The Purple Elephant Campaign (PEC) is a not-for-profit incorporation under the Canada Not-For-Profit Corporations Act that works toward increasing the awareness and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease among the younger generation. While promoting awareness campaigns and providing information on Alzheimer’s disease, the PEC raises funds for research and education through their online merchandise and events.

Ridge Meadows Seniors Society (Local: Maple Ridge, BC)

The mission of the Ridge Meadows Seniors Society is to advance the well-being of seniors by providing social support services, education and recreational programs for seniors 55+ within the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows BC. Volunteers are involved in a wide variety of activities that expand and strengthen our ability to provide quality programs and services.

SAM Program (Regional: Hamilton, ON)

The SAM Program is for adults and seniors, who reside in the community and require a therapeutic day program or whose caregivers are in need of a regular respite service. It is offered in three Hamilton community based centres.

Santropol Roulant (Local: Montreal, QC)

A nonprofit organization founded and run by young people in the community which brings people together across cultures and generations through an innovative meals-on-wheels service, intergenerational activities, and volunteer programs.

Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association Inc. (SSFA) (Regional: Saskatchewan)

The Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association Inc. (SSFA) is a volunteer, non-governmental organization formed in 1984 in response to the need for an activity program for people fifty years of age and older.

Senior Persons Living Connected (Local: Scarborough, ON)

Senior Persons Living Connected is a not-for-profit organization that cares deeply about the well-being of seniors and provides programs and services that meet the diverse needs of older adults and their caregivers from diverse backgrounds. For more than 35 years we’ve provided affordable housing and been actively involved in supporting independence.

Seniors Come Share Society (Local: Surrey, BC)

Since 1977 the Society has offered a Day Program for Older Adults providing caregiver support and respite in a therapeutic setting. Additionally, they offer Community Support Programs that support seniors to live independently in their community.

 

Seniors Healthy Aging Resource Environment (SHARES) (Local: Abbotsford, BC)

An umbrella organization that works together with partners to provide services, information, and support for all seniors. Its mission is to promote and protect the best interests of senior citizens in the Abbotsford, BC area.

Seniors’ Information Centre (Local: Moncton, NB)

The mission of the Seniors’ Information Centre is to meet the needs of senior citizens and their families by assisting them in accessing relevant information that will help them to lead more independent and meaningful lives.

Seniors Life Enhancement Centres (Local: Mississauga, ON)

Seniors Life Enhancement Centres provide individualized social and recreational programs in a safe and encouraging environment. Centre I provides an adult day program for memory impaired and/or frail seniors. Centre II provides an adult day program for seniors with physical disabilities.

Seniors Resource Centre – Access Ability Guide (Local: Brantford, ON)

The Seniors’ Resource Centre is a nonprofit organization, that offers free assistance to seniors in Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations and the surrounding region. They offer programs to help with government forms, long-term care programs, nursing homes, and other important services that seniors need to navigate.

Seniors Services Society (Regional: New Westminster, BC)

Seniors Services Society is a nonprofit agency located in New Westminster, part of Metro Vancouver BC, that provides local and provincial programs and services that support older adults to live as independently as possible. They provide support services, housing assistance for homeless seniors or those at risk of homelessness, and community education.

Seniors United Now (SUN) (Regional: Sherwood Park, AB)

The Voice of Seniors in Alberta – Seniors United Now is a non-partisan, nonprofit, Society that provides a venue for discussion and united actions on the needs, concerns and challenges that affect all Alberta Seniors.

Services to Assist Independent Living (SAIL) (Local: Gananoque, ON)

A not-for-profit, charitable agency that provides community support services to seniors, adults with physical disabilities, and convalescents living in their own homes. SAIL, with the help of volunteers, provides services such as Meals on Wheels, escorted transportation and many other essential services to clients living in the townships of Front of Yonge, Leeds and the Thousand Islands, and the town of Gananoque.

Silver Circle (Local: Toronto, ON)

Silver Circle is a charity that provides support to seniors and their caregivers with a complete circle of high quality and affordable services. All services are based on their mission: to help seniors live independently for longer.

Silver Harbour Centre (Local: North Vancouver, BC)

Silver Harbour Centre’s mission is to inspire and enhance the physical and mental well-being of adults 55 plus. Silver Harbour has over 70 different programs and activities designed to keep seniors active, stay mentally fit, develop creativity and make new friends. They also offer a number of helpful services including meals and refreshments, legal advice, friendly visiting and more.

Simon Fraser University Seniors Program

The SFU Seniors Program offers intellectually stimulating and academically challenging courses for adults 55 or better. All courses are held at Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver, beginning in September, January and May of each year. The program also offers a series of special Free Saturday Seniors Forums, as well as a Canada-wide Outreach Project.

Simcoe Community Services (SCC) (Local: Barrie, ON)

Simcoe Community Services (SCC) provides supports to children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities in Barrie, Orillia, Bradford-West Gwillimbury and surrounding townships. SCC provides access to a diverse range of services at any stage in their life from preschool to teenage years, as a young adult or a senior. Service options include preschool programs, community involvement, family support or employment.

Sing For Your Life (Local: Kelowna, BC)

This organization supports the health and wellbeing of older people aging at home with participatory musical activities, particularly singing, in the Okanagan Valley of BC., where they coordinate Silver Song Groups to provide regular sessions of singing and music-making.

Smile Theatre (Regional: Toronto, ON)

Dedicated to performing musical theatre productions for senior citizens throughout Ontario. We have toured the province for over thirty years and perform for thousands of seniors every season in residences, activity centre, care facilities and hospitals.

South Granville Seniors Centre

The South Granville Seniors Friendship Centre Society provides programs and services to promote healthy and independent life styles for seniors in the South Granville and Fairview districts and the surrounding communities of Vancouver.

Spectra Community Support Services (formerly TeleCare Distress Centre)

St. Hilda’s Towers

St. Hilda’s Towers is a senior citizen complex of three towers in the Dufferin – Eglinton district of Metropolitan Toronto. In addition to residential care, it provides, services and programs to residents. St. Hilda’s Towers operates as a Supportive Housing facility under the Long-term Care Division of the Ministry of Health and the Lewis Garnsworthy Residence is a Ministry of Housing facility.

Volunteer Grandparents endeavours to support and encourage multigenerational relationships and the concept of the extended family.
