Our primary focus is providing aid and support to at-risk and homeless youth. 360°kids is a one-stop agency where young people at-risk can access safe, supportive housing for the day, the night or as long as a year. We offer a full range of support services —clothing and food, personal support, outreach, counselling, life skills training, education upgrading and job searching—designed to help youth get back on their feet.

5 Days is a national campaign run by the Canadian Association of Business Students that strives to raise awareness and donations for members of society that are at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Donations raised are given to shelters and programs to support their services within the community.

A Place Called Home (Local: Lindsay, ON)

Provides shelter and support for the homeless and disadvantaged. The organization serves single adults, couples, families and children. They provide 24-7 access in an empathetic and non-judgmental environment.

Access Pro Bono Society of BC (APB) (Regional: Vancouver, BC)

The Access Pro Bono Society of BC (APB) is a charitable organization whose mission is to promote access to justice in British Columbia by providing and fostering quality pro bono (free) legal services for people and nonprofit organizations of limited means. Active Career Advancement Project (ACAP) (Local: Toronto, ON & Vancouver, BC)

A national pilot project that works towards helping internationally trained professionals (ITPs) use some or all of their previously acquired skills in a profession relevant to their trained field. ACAP also assists employers in better engaging ITPs. ACAP offers integrated services to support underutilized ITPs to re-position themselves in alternative careers related to their expertise and to assist employers in hiring, developing and retaining ITPs who are highly qualified but underutilized within their workforce.

Addressing Domestic Violence in the Workplace through Collaboration (National)

The main goal of this project is to ensure that workers, unions and employers are able to respond effectively to harassment and violence associated with domestic violence that finds its way into the workplace by providing tools to help everyone do what they can to support those who are in these terrible situations. The project will contribute to the physical and psychological health and safety of employees in federally regulated workplaces and beyond and is headed by the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women & Children at Western University.

Africa Great Lakes Networking Foundation (International: Vancouver, BC)

The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse is a safe place for people to tell their stories of childhood sexual abuse. The Gatehouse is a charitable organization located in Etobicoke on Lake Shore Blvd. West. The Gatehouse offers two free programs to the public. (1) The Gatehouse provides facilities for Toronto Police Services and Children’s Aid workers to interview children and their families in reported cases of abuse. (2) The other program is free support groups for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a 15 week psychoeducational program available for both men and for women. Groups are run four times per year.

Quest Outreach Society (Local: Vancouver, BC)

Quest Outreach Society is B.C.’s only food exchange and we divert 6.6 million pounds of surplus food from landfills each year, which adds up to $7 million worth of food. Our mandate is to rescue food and reduce hunger. We fill, and then empty our 575-m2 warehouse each day, providing food to hundreds of social service agencies in the region feeding 50,000 people a month.

Services to Assist Independent Living (SAIL) (Local: Gananoque, ON)

A not-for-profit, charitable agency that provides community support services to seniors, adults with physical disabilities, and convalescents living in their own homes. SAIL, with the help of volunteers, provides services such as Meals on Wheels, escorted transportation and many other essential services to clients living in the townships of Front of Yonge, Leeds and the Thousand Islands, and the town of Gananoque.

Seventh Step Society of Canada

Realistic thinking, positive peer pressure and the self help philosophy can help incorrigible and recidivist offenders to change their behaviour and attitudes and help them become productive members of the community; Seventh Step Agencies and Chapters have developed throughout the nation with the primary purpose of reducing recidivism. The Seventh Step Society of Canada has been formed to unite these Agencies and Chapters and encourage them to share and practice a common ideal in the therapy of the offender.

Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton

SACE exists to empower individuals affected by sexual abuse and assault, and to empower communities to take action against sexual violence. All services of SACE are provided within our belief structure.

ShareLife

The Catholic community’s response to helping the whole community through Catholic agencies. ShareLife’s 32 agencies reach out to all those in need, regardless of religious affiliation. ShareLife helped more than 100,000 people in need this past year.

Shepherds of Good Hope (Local: Ottawa, ON)

Shepherds of Good Hope is the largest not-for-profit organization dedicated to the needs of the homeless and impoverished in the city of Ottawa. Over 1600 people come through our doors each day, visiting our soup kitchen, clothing or grocery program, while others receive services from one of our specialized support programs. Over 500 people sleep in one of our 8 facilities across the city every night.

Shuswap Family Centre (Local: Salmon Arm, BC)

The Shuswap Family Centre supports individuals and families of all ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds in the community of Salmon Arm and area, by encouraging personal growth, wellness and positive changes through innovative programs and referral services.

Shuswap Second Harvest Food Bank (Regional: Salmon Arm, BC)

Open twice a week, this organization works to supply people who are in need with as much fresh food as possible so that they get some healthy food to eat. They glean fruit and vegetables and buy things like milk, eggs and some meat & fish. There are no qualifications to receive, only that people are in need, with the exception that if they can prove to have children living at home, they will receive an extra 2 litres of milk each week.

Sierra Leonean Community of British Columbia (SLCBC) (Regional: Burnaby, BC)

The SLCBC is a nonprofit, social and advocacy organization working to strengthen relationships within the Sierra Leonean Community in BC. They engage in topical issues of interest to the members of the organization including addressing issues and needs in Canada and in Sierra Leone.

Silayan Filipino Community Centre (Local: Toronto, ON)

Skills for Change (Sfc) is a non-profit agency providing information and training to immigrants and refugees to assist their entry into the workforce and participation in the wider community. SfC offers a variety of training programs and work search programs designed for individuals who speak English as a Second language. The Clerical Employment Services Program provides job development and assistance finding volunteer experience placements in the clerical, customer service or retail sectors.

Sky Dragon Community Development Co-operative Inc. (Local: Hamilton, ON)

Sky Dragon is an incorporated nonprofit worker-cooperative dedicated to the goals of progressive social and environmental change. Life Skills is an indispensable training program for group leaders, coaches and facilitators delivering adult learning programs. The Life Skills Coach Certificate training programs are rooted in the principles and philosophy of the Saskatchewan NewStart model of adult education and utilize the lesson plan as a template for designing experiential workshops that engage learners cognitively, physically and effectively.
